It’s affordability, y’all

James Carville had a saying back in '92 that every political operative in this country still repeats: "It's the economy, stupid." Simple. True. It won an election.

Well, in 2026, that saying needs an update: It's affordability, y'all.

Alabama families are asking whether they can afford groceries this week.

Whether the electric bill is going to be manageable this month. Whether gas prices are going to eat into what's left after rent.

That's the economy Alabamians are actually living in, and it's a lot different than the one Tommy Tuberville and his MAGA buddies keep bragging about.

Here's what they're selling you instead: Massive tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy while working families keep footing the bill.

I've watched this movie before. They roll into town promising jobs and prosperity, hand out tax breaks like candy to millionaires who already have more money than they know what to do with, and leave regular Alabamians holding the bag when the promises don't pan out the way they said they would.

This is an historic opportunity for Alabama Democrats. Voters are exhausted. They're watching their paychecks disappear faster than they can earn them, and they're starting to ask who's actually fighting for them. That's us. That's been us the whole time. And this November, we get to prove it.

Let's give Alabama families something to vote for.
