MONTGOMERY, AL. (September 16, 2026)— Jackson Hospital is celebrating 80 years of caring for Central Alabama with JacksonFest, a free community event on Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Jackson Hospital campus.

The celebration comes as Jackson Hospital marks its 80th anniversary on September 16. Thehospital opened in 1946 through the leadership of Dr. B. Franklin “Frank” Jackson Jr., who returned to Montgomery after serving as a flight surgeon during World War II and recognized the community’s need for expanded healthcare services. His commitment to compassionate care helped establish a legacy that Jackson Hospital continues today.

“Eighty years is an extraordinary milestone, and it belongs to far more than Jackson Hospital,”said John Quinlivan, President and CEO of Jackson Hospital. “It belongs to the physicians, nurses and employees who have cared for this community generation after generation, and to the families who have trusted Jackson with their care. JacksonFest gives us an opportunity to celebrate that history together and say thank you.”

A Celebration for the Community

Built around the theme “Celebrating 80 Years of Caring,” JacksonFest will combine a community health fair with a family fun day.

The free event will feature health screenings and wellness resources, health seminars, opportunities to learn about healthcare careers at Jackson Hospital, food trucks, local vendors, music, entertainment and activities for children and families.

“We want JacksonFest to be a true celebration of community,” said Arla Chandler, Vice President of Marketing and Planning at Jackson Hospital. “Guests can learn more about their health, reacquaint themselves with our services, explore healthcare careers and enjoy local food, entertainment and carnival-style activities for the entire family. After 80 years of serving this community, we are proud to bring everyone together to celebrate Jackson Hospital’s enduring commitment to Central Alabama.”

“The first thing we wanted to do after adopting our long-term plan was say thank you,” Quinlivansaid. “JacksonFest is our way of celebrating the people who never wavered in their support.”
