Jay Mitchell Leads Attorney General Race in October Fundraising
Holds more than $2 MILLION in Cash on Hand as of latest filing
Former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell announced that his campaign for Attorney General now boasts $2,094,430.73 in cash on hand, including $210,175 raised during October, according to the campaign’s release.
Nearly all of that fundraising—98%—comes from donors within Alabama, the campaign said, highlighting strong in-state support from conservative contributors.
October also brought a wave of endorsements from law-enforcement officials across Alabama. Sheriffs and police chiefs are backing Mitchell, pointing to his record of leadership, commitment to the rule of law, and public-service credentials as reasons for their support.
Mitchell said: “October has been an incredible month for our campaign! Everywhere I go, I meet folks who want an Attorney General who is equipped to lead well and win for Alabama. Whether it's law enforcement officers who spend each day in the line of duty, small business owners who power our economy, or families who want safer communities—voters across this state are ready for change. I'm inspired by their trust and support.”
His campaign statement also took aim at what it calls an influx of “dark money” backing another candidate in the race: “Alabamians are not fooled or intimidated by the dark money flooding into this race. To the contrary—they know this dark money is nothing more than a Trojan Horse for woke, anti-Trump operatives who want to own our state, and they are more energized than ever to elect an Attorney General who will serve the people of Alabama with integrity. They know that I'm their guy.”
The release highlighted that Mitchell’s campaign has raised all of its funds in full compliance with Alabama’s campaign-finance laws—no transfers, shell groups, or undisclosed funding, the campaign says.
Mitchell’s campaign figures reflect a sharp rise from earlier filings. In June his campaign reported roughly $1.25 million on hand, including a carry-over from his prior judicial campaign.
According to the Alabama Secretary of State’s website, Katherine Robertson ended the month of October with $1,723,415.55 cash on hand, and Pamela Casey had $597,457.44 cash on hand. No filings for any Democrat contender for AG were reported.
Mitchell, Robertson and Casey will face off in the Republican primary for Attorney General on May 19. 2025.
