Republican Attorney General contender Jay Mitchell enters 2026 with a commanding financial edge in the tight GOP primary field.

According to the latest campaign finance filings, Mitchell’s committee held $2,244,112.66 in cash on hand at the start of the year — a near $800,000 lead over his closest rival. Records show Mitchell raised $139,500 in December, with most funds coming from conservative supporters within Alabama.

Mitchell’s team noted that disciplined spending and a grassroots base have helped widen his lead in a crowded contest that also includes Chief Counsel Katherine Robertson and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.

According to the Secretary of State’s web page, Katherine Robertson finished 2025 with $1,485,034.83 cash on hand, while Pamela Casey ended the year with cash in hand of $595,608.58.

The Mitchell campaign attributed its strong position to steady fundraising, disciplined spending and deep in-state support.

“Alabamians are sending a clear message: maintaining the status quo isn’t enough. They want an Attorney General who will go on offense for their values and put their tax dollars to work making Alabama a better place to live,” Mitchell said in a campaign release shared with ALpolitics.com.

Campaign officials emphasized that the bulk of Mitchell’s backing comes from local donors, reinforcing his appeal with Alabama conservatives ahead of the May 19, 2026 Republican primary.

In previous months, Mitchell’s campaign highlighted strong local fundraising and endorsements from business and law enforcement groups as key momentum drivers.
