Jefferson County Progressive Democratic Council Releases Endorsement List for Candidates in Birmingham Council and School Board Races
The Council is Alabama’s oldest Black political organization

The Jefferson County Progressive Democratic Council—a historic and trusted voice in Alabama politics—has issued its endorsements for the Birmingham City Council and Board of Education elections set for Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Founded in 1935, the Council is Alabama’s oldest Black political organization. Its mission is to raise awareness on civic issues and strengthen community leadership by encouraging voter engagement and support for candidates who reflect local needs.
“I am asking you to go to the polls on August 26, 2025, and vote for the following recommendations,” said Emory Anthony, President of the Progressive Council.

- District 2: Terri Michaels
- District 4: Rodney Huntley
- District 8: Antwon Womack
- District 9: Eric Hall
The Progressive Council urged all eligible voters in Birmingham to take part in the August 26 election and make their voices count.
