John Wahl Responds to Doug Jones’ Comments on Alabama Library Board

Athens, AL — Republican lieutenant governor candidate John Wahl, who also serves as chairman of the Alabama Public Library Service Board, issued a statement on Friday responding to comments by Democrat gubernatorial candidate Doug Jones, who promised to replace board members seeking to protect children from sexually explicit and inappropriate content if he is elected.

During a “Doug Unplugged” livestream, Jones said:

“The first thing that I can tell you I would do [as governor] is I’d get rid of a few people on that that library board, and have some people with some common sense and not some crazy political agenda that we see constantly, and so that they can work with public libraries to make sure that folks have access to information.”

Wahl Responded Strongly:

“Doug Jones is completely out of touch with reality and the people of Alabama. Maybe he should spend a little more time listening to the parents who are horrified by the pornographic materials their children are stumbling across in some libraries before making judgments. Alabama families don’t want their kids exposed to this kind of trash, and anyone who has actually reviewed these books understands exactly why. Frankly, the livestream should have been titled ‘Doug Unhinged’ instead of ‘Unplugged.’

This just shows the far-left, Biden-loving, liberal elitist mentality Doug Jones stands for. He actually believes that exposing young children to transgender story hour and pushing books filled with sexually explicit passages and graphic images is normal.

It’s not. It’s perversion.

Public libraries should be places where children can roam freely and explore new worlds through the simple joy of reading—not places where parents are forced to constantly worry about what their children might be exposed to.

Luckily, Democrat Doug and his woke supporters won’t get the chance to use our libraries to indoctrinate children because I have every confidence that in November, Coach Tuberville will beat him like a peewee team playing in the NFL.”
