MADISON, Ala. — Hanu Karlapalem, Democratic nominee for Alabama State House District 4, will hold a press conference this Thursday, September 17, 2026, joined by Benard Simelton (USAF Lt. Col. Retd.), Campaign Chairman, to present the full body of evidence behind his campaign’s formal complaints against “Voter Opinion Center,” the entity behind an unlawful, deceitful push-poll survey sent to HD4 voters last month — one built on mashed up lies attributed to Karlapalem.
Karlapalem’s campaign filed formal complaints with the Alabama Secretary of State and the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office, citing violations of the Fair Campaign Practices Act, Code of Alabama §§ 17-5-12(a) and 17-5-2(4). Since those filings, the campaign has uncovered and submitted additional evidence connecting the push poll to a paid political consulting firm and a documented financial trail.
At Thursday’s press conference, Karlapalem will walk through the full evidentiary record — including campaign finance records, business entity filings, shared website and contact information, voter text-message evidence, and the survey’s 24 questions — and will call on the Attorney General’s office and the Morgan County District Attorney to conduct a thorough, urgent, and transparent investigation.
“Voters deserve straight answers, not lies dressed up as a poll,” Karlapalem said. “Thursday, we’re laying out the full evidence trail for the public and the press to see. Election integrity and transparency are not optional — they are the foundation of every vote cast in District 4.”
