Katherine Robertson Qualifies for Alabama Attorney General Race
Robertson has officially qualified for the Republican Alabama Attorney General primary, brings experience, broad law enforcement support to race
Katherine Robertson has officially qualified in the Republican primary for Alabama Attorney General on May 19, 2026, setting the stage for a high-profile contest to lead the State's top legal office.
Robertson, who serves as Chief Counsel to current Attorney General Steve Marshall, told ALpolitics.com that she filed the necessary paperwork online, rather than in person during the hectic first week of qualifying. Robertson has now formalized what began with her campaign launch last June in Birmingham.
A lifelong Alabamian and eighth-generation daughter of a Dallas County farm family, Robertson is a graduate of Auburn University and the University of Alabama School of Law. Before joining the Attorney General’s Office, she held roles with the U.S. Department of Justice and served as legislative counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee under former U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions.
At her campaign launch, Robertson said Alabama “needs a proven fighter who will harness the power of the Attorney General’s office to protect our communities and uphold our values.”
Her platform centers on strengthening public safety and supporting law enforcement. She has promised to pursue tougher laws targeting gang activity, child exploitation, illegal immigration and other threats to community security.
Robertson’s endorsements reflect her deep roots in conservative legal leadership. The Republican Attorneys General Association formally backed her candidacy, with its leaders praising her record advancing conservative principles. Additionally, County Sheriffs from across Alabama — including Mobile, Chilton, Bibb, Etowah and Limestone Counties — have publicly endorsed her, citing her law-enforcement experience and commitment to public safety.
The Alabama Farmers Federation and the Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama have also thrown their support behind Robertson, highlighting her advocacy for rural values and business interests.
Robertson faces former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey. All three candidates will appear on the May 19 ballot, with the Republican primary likely to determine the State’s next top prosecutor.
