Alabama State Representative Kenneth Paschal has officially launched his campaign for re-election to the Alabama House of Representatives. Paschal is seeking a second term serving District 73, which includes parts of Alabaster, Helena, Montevallo, and Pelham. A U.S. Army Veteran and longtime Shelby County resident, Paschal is running on a platform grounded in service, traditional values, and a commitment to delivering real results for the people of his District.

“I ran to serve — not to make promises, but to uphold the Constitution and defend the rights and values of the people of Alabama,” Paschal said. “With your continued support, I will keep fighting for God, country, and the families of District 73.”

Paschal made history in 2021 when he won a special election, becoming the first Black Republican elected to the Alabama Legislature in nearly 140 years. He was later elected to a full term in 2022. Since taking office, he has consistently advocated for conservative principles such as limited government, individual liberty, and the importance of strong families.

Looking ahead, Paschal has laid out a clear legislative agenda built on five conservative priorities: tax relief for working families, public safety enhancements across local communities, expanded educational and parental choice, economic development and job growth, and stronger protections for family values and parental rights. These priorities reflect the same values that have shaped both his public service and private life. Campaigning under the motto “God and Country,” Paschal continues to emphasize faith, freedom, and family as the foundation of his leadership. In recognition of his efforts, he was recently awarded the Alabama Republican Party’s “Defender of Freedom” Award for his commitment to conservative values and effective governance.

Paschal also pointed to several infrastructure projects secured during his time in office as evidence of his impact. These include the $300 million widening of I-65 from Alabaster to Calera, a $41.8 million expansion of Highway 261 in Pelham, and a $41.7 million federal grant for the Highway 52 flyover — the largest railroad crossing grant in the nation. “These projects improve safety, reduce delays, and boost our local economy,” Paschal said. “They’re about solving problems that matter to everyday families in our district.”

After retiring from a 21-year career in the U.S. Army in 2006, Paschal returned to Alabama and became active in civic and community life. He has served as post commander of the American Legion, is a member of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Committee, and serves on the Shelby County Republican Executive Committee.

“As I look to the future, I remain focused on strengthening our families, expanding opportunity, and protecting the freedoms we hold dear,” Paschal said. “Alabama needs leaders who don’t just talk about values—they live them, fight for them, and deliver results. I’m running to keep doing just that.”
