Lt. Gov. candidate Pat Bishop Delivers Message to Greene County Voters

Monday evening in Eutaw, Retired Army Major Pat Bishop addressed a gathering of Greene County residents as he campaigns for Alabama Lieutenant Governor.
In his opening remarks, Bishop said, “I am committed to working with national, state and county executive members to fight for the values we all believe in and to help elect men and women who will serve our state with integrity and vision based on common-sense management and the following of Christian principles. I’m eager to continue our teamwork, and I look forward to all we will accomplish together in taking care of our veterans, first responders, educators, youth and elderly. We must go out & make Alabama better.”
Throughout his speech, Bishop focused on key issues: the State’s crime surge, homelessness among Veterans, expanding community service officers to assist law enforcement with citizens suffering mental illnesses, and strengthening protections for teachers in the classroom.
Bishop brings a long record of service. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1990 after graduating from Ramsay High School. Over a 26-year military career, he held multiple deployments and rose to the rank of Major. After his military service, he spent several years in law enforcement.
He currently lives in Trussville with his wife of 25 years, Angela.
Bishop announced his candidacy for Lieutenant Governor earlier this year. A native of the Kingston area of Birmingham, graduated from Ramsay High School in 1990. He enlisted in the Army and later earned a commission through the Army’s Direct Commission Program in 2004. During his military tenure, he served in multiple overseas deployments. His last post was as Command Public Affairs Officer and Antiterrorism Officer for the 412th Theater Engineer Command in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Education has been a focus in Bishop’s life: he holds an Associate Applied Science in Law Enforcement (Jefferson State Community College), a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice, and an MBA in Public Administration from Columbia Southern University. Bishop also graduated from the Birmingham School of Law.
In civilian life, he served as an officer with the Alabama Board of Pardons and Parole (2016–2019), worked under the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office as a Chaplain Deputy, and joined the Cullman County Sheriff’s Department in 2021. He is also an ordained minister at Trinity Baptist Church in Birmingham. Bishop is active in numerous civic and veteran organizations, including the VFW, the Fraternal Order of Police, Military Officers Association of America, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
