Chad 'Chig' Martin, a prominent Alabama entrepreneur is laying the foundation for a competitive Midterm election. After announcing his candidacy for the 2026 Alabama Gubernatorial Race, and igniting a profound grassroots campaign, Martin has been on the campaign trail hearing directly from Alabamians. A lifelong resident of Enterprise, AL, Martin is the founder of Thunder Industrial Supply Company and established Alabama's first hemp distribution site, Honeysuckle Hemp Company in Dothan.
What he refers to as 'The Citizen's Driven Movement' has rapidly grown to over 40,000 followers across platforms. Martin believes his years of experience in business creation and management can help elevate Alabama's job market and ultimately improve the quality of life for all Alabamians. A key tenet of his campaign is the decriminalization (eventual legalization) of natural medicines, particularly in light of the recent passage of HB445, which criminalizes smokable hemp products in Alabama. He hopes this will alleviate overcrowding within our prison system as well. He does not believe in mass incarceration for non violent offenders, and wishes to see incarcerated individuals afforded more opportunities for skills training, and career options upon release.
He advocates for expanding Medicaid and enhancing Alabama's healthcare industry by incorporating those natural medicinal options. This includes working towards the acceptance of naturopathic practitioners and natural medicinal options by insurance providers. Martin believes Alabamians should have the freedom to choose their healthcare options.
Mr. Martin proposes investing in critical infrastructure, including roadways, broadband, and wastewater management, to revitalize Alabama's agricultural industries, as well as, enable remote Alabamians opportunities to expand Agritourism efforts and boost their local economies. He is committed to preserving 'Alabama the Beautiful' by strengthening and enforcing dumping and pollution regulations. Adequate funding for state regulatory agencies, coupled with collaboration with private companies and nonprofits, will enable better monitoring and mitigation of pollution and animal welfare issues. He also aims to integrate a statewide spay and neuter program to address pet overpopulation.
Martin emphasizes the importance of establishing an education lottery in Alabama to provide opportunities in early childhood education, scholarships, and technical career training.He also plans to focus efforts on adult career training and remote work opportunities in rural areas to stimulate economic development.His vision centers on developing sustainable industries that offer careers with livable wages, maintainable benefits, and respectable retirement packages.
Outside of politics, his biggest pride and joy is his daughter Anna. She has always been his biggest supporter, and when her father chose to devote himself to the needs of Alabamians, she stepped up to run the family businesses. When he has the free time, you can find “Chig” fishing in the Gulf or hunting in Barbour County. He is invested in Alabama and the well being of all.
