Minton officially qualified to run for Alabama State Senate District 10, earning key endorsements and outlining priorities focused on conservative values, local service
Amy Minton officially filed today to run for the Alabama Legislature, qualifying as a Republican candidate for Alabama State Senate, District 10 ahead of the May 19, 2026 primary.
In a post on Facebook announcing her qualification, Minton invited local support and involvement, writing:
“Today I officially qualified as a candidate for 'Alabama State Senate, district 10'. If you would like to volunteer, donate or would like a yard sign, message me on Facebook. I am also humbled and honored to have received the Alabama Farmers Federation & VETERANS PAC Endorsement! Please give me the opportunity to work for you by voting Amy Dozier Minton, May 19, 2026. THANK YOU for your support! #semperfi.”
Minton’s campaign is rooted in her deep ties to District 10, which includes Etowah, Cherokee and parts of DeKalb Counties. She and her husband, Dr. Maury Minton, make their home in Rainbow City, where they raised their two children. She highlighted her local roots and long record of community involvement on her campaign website, noting her work with educators, faith-based groups and veterans.
A retired pharmaceutical sales professional with a master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Minton has served in party leadership as Vice Chair of the Etowah County Republican Party and represents Congressional Seat 7 of District 10 on the Alabama Republican Party’s State Executive Committee. She also serves on the Etowah County Library Board and was appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to the Alabama Public Library Services Board.
Minton’s campaign recently has drawn backing from major community groups. The Alabama Farmers Federation, the State’s largest farm organization, has endorsed her bid for SD 10, citing her “proven conservative values” and commitment to agriculture and rural communities. Leaders from both Etowah and DeKalb County Farmers Federations praised her leadership and vision for the District.
The Veterans PAC endorsement highlighted by Minton aligns with her long-standing support for military families and Veterans’ issues, a theme she ties to her family’s own service.
On her campaign site, Minton outlines a series of legislative goals that focus on supporting small business owners, farmers and property rights; improving education and infrastructure; and defending Second Amendment rights. Her platform also includes backing faith-based addiction recovery initiatives, strengthening veteran services and opposing expanded gambling and what she describes as “gender ideology and indoctrination” in schools and libraries.
Minton’s entry into the race sets up a competitive Republican primary against incumbent Senator Andrew Jones as voters in District 10 prepare for the May election.
