Congressman Barry Moore praised President Donald Trump following the successful capture of Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro, calling the operation a decisive step in protecting American lives and confronting the global drug networks fueling the fentanyl crisis.
“Mission complete,” Moore said in a statement. “Thank you President Trump, law enforcement, and thank you to the greatest military in the world. Freedom matters.”
Moore said the operation sends a clear and unmistakable message to international drug traffickers, cartel leaders, and criminal networks that profit from violence, corruption, and the poisoning of American communities.
“President Trump is sending a message to all drug traffickers and criminals who harm American citizens: There is nowhere safe for you to hide, no matter who you are,” Moore said. “The United States will find you, and you will face the consequences of your actions.”
The Alabama congressman and candidate for Alabama's open U.S. Senate seat emphasized that the consequences of cartel-driven drug trafficking are not abstract or distant for Alabamians. Families across the state have lost sons, daughters, parents, and friends to fentanyl overdoses, often without warning and often from a single deadly dose. Moore noted that communities large and small, from rural counties to urban centers, have felt the devastation left behind by illicit drugs pouring across borders and into local neighborhoods.
According to Moore, stopping cartel operations overseas and holding their enablers accountable is directly tied to saving lives at home. He argued that strong leadership and decisive action are essential to disrupting the supply chains that deliver fentanyl into Alabama, overwhelming law enforcement, and leaving families grieving.
Moore also praised the professionalism, precision, and bravery of the U.S. military and federal law enforcement agencies involved in the operation, saying their actions demonstrate America’s resolve when protecting its citizens.
