U.S. Representative Barry Moore (R-AL1) is touting his vote on President Donald Trump’s "One Big Beautiful Bill" (OBBB) as a win for Alabama families, farmers, and rural hospitals. The sweeping legislation, which passed the House in a tight 218–214 vote, includes the largest middle-class tax cut in U.S. history and delivers major funding boosts for border security, national defense, and rural health care.

“President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill delivers on the promises Republicans made to hardworking Americans, and I am proud to support it," Moore said in a statement released following the House’s passage of the OBBB. "By codifying President Trump's agenda of cutting taxes and wasteful spending to put more money back in the hands of families and small businesses, fully funding the border wall, and strengthening our national security through military modernization, this legislation puts American families first. I am proud to help deliver on the mandate the American people gave us on November 5 by supporting this legislation to implement the largest tax cuts in American history.”

The bill’s tax provisions include permanent relief for working families, eliminating taxes on overtime pay, tips, and interest on U.S.-made car loans. According to the White House, the average family of four could save more than $10,000 a year. The legislation also prevents several tax hikes set to go into effect next year by extending provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. However, independent analysts note that the bill’s cost—an estimated $3.3 trillion over ten years—has drawn criticism from budget hawks and Democrats, particularly for deep cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits.

For Alabama, the bill brings an influx of federal support to some of the state's most underserved areas. It includes a $50 billion investment in rural health care through the newly established Rural Health Transformation Program. Each of Alabama’s 54 rural hospitals is expected to receive approximately $9.26 million in funding to improve facilities, retain staff, and expand services.

National defense is another major focus of the bill. Nearly $150 billion will go toward funding missile defense, military modernization, and restocking U.S. weapons systems. A key piece of that investment includes President Trump’s "Golden Dome" missile defense system, which administration officials say will boost homeland security against missile threats from abroad.

Border security was another Republican priority addressed in the package. The bill provides $175 billion for construction of a border wall, technological surveillance, and the hiring of thousands of new Border Patrol agents. Moore and other Republicans framed it as a step toward restoring law and order at the southern border after what they describe as years of mismanagement and open-border policies.

The legislation also delivers targeted support to farmers, including $105 million to combat the feral swine crisis plaguing Southern states like Alabama. It raises reference prices for key crops and shields over 37,000 Alabama family farms from pending death tax hikes. Moore, a former small business owner and military veteran, has long championed conservative economic and agricultural policies.

The bill is expected to be signed into law by President Trump on July 4 during a televised event at Mount Rushmore.
