First-time U.S. Senate candidate Morgan Murphy posted the strongest opening fundraising quarter in the Republican contest to replace Senator Tommy Tuberville, hauling in more than $1 million since entering the race on Oct. 1, his campaign reported.

Murphy, a former Trump administration official and U.S. Navy Reserve Captain, raised $1,050,000 in contributions to his campaign and joint fundraising committee through the end of December, according to campaign figures. That total exceeds the first-quarter haul of all other GOP contenders in the 2026 contest.

The campaign also reported having about $837,000 cash on hand at year’s end, tying with U.S. Rep. Barry Moore for one of the largest war chests at that stage in the race. Murphy’s team noted that all funds came from individual donors and not from “dark money“ special interest groups, foreign sources, or political action committees.

Murphy’s effort drew more than 10,000 individual contributions from over 6,700 donors across all 50 states, with a supermajority of support coming from Alabamians. The campaign reported an average donation of $69 — far lower than other Republican candidates’ early fundraising averages — a signal of grass-roots support.

“Alabamians want someone who will represent them — not special interest groups in Washington, DC and Montgomery,” Murphy said in a statement. “My campaign proves that when you stand up for America-first principles, America will stand up for you.”

Murphy has also been a frequent presence in national media, with his campaign highlighting more than 40 appearances on outlets such as Fox News, Newsmax, and Steve Bannon’s War Room. His team said this is more national media exposure than other candidates have had in their entire careers.

“The role of a Senator is to influence, persuade, and champion priorities,” Murphy said in another campaign statement. “I’ve been proud to speak on behalf of the people of Alabama in this campaign and make sure we’re heard loud and clear across the country.”

A 26-year Navy Reserve captain, Murphy has made strengthening national defense and rebuilding U.S. manufacturing central themes of his campaign. He has earned Veteran endorsements from all 67 Alabama Counties and support from five senior officials from the Trump administration.
