Morgan Murphy’s campaign for the U.S. Senate has drawn financial support from conservative grassroots activists in all 50 states, a first among Republican candidates in the crowded 2026 GOP primary, campaign officials say.

Since launching his campaign in September, Murphy has reported more than 7,000 individual donors contributing small amounts—$5, $10 or $20 at a time—showing a broad base of support among conservative grassroots activists from Alabama to Alaska and beyond.

“While my opponents are playing footsie with special interest groups and lobbyists in Washington and Montgomery, the backbone of my campaign is grassroots conservatives from every state in the country,” Murphy said in a campaign statement. “Ruby-red Alabama must send a real conservative to the U.S. Senate—not a RINO.”

Murphy told supporters his campaign represents a nationwide MAGA base that feels underrepresented in Washington. “There are millions of conservatives stuck in blue states who feel like they don’t have a voice in Washington that speaks for them,” he said. “By representing the MAGA base in Alabama, I will also be their advocate as we fight to lower prices, bring manufacturing back to our country, and continue President Trump’s mission to Make America Great Again.”

Murphy is one of a field of candidates, including Attorney General Steve Marshall, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson, businessman Rodney Walker and businessman Jeremy Spratling, who vying for the GOP nomination in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary.

Morgan Murphy is a Birmingham, Alabama native, U.S. Navy Reserve Captain with 26 years of service on five continents, including a deployment to Afghanistan. He has served in both Trump administrations, most recently as Senior Public Diplomacy Advisor to the Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, and previously as Press Secretary to the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Murphy was also National Security Adviser to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville and a Senior Fellow with the America First Policy Institute. Before his federal service, he was travel editor, food critic, and spokesman for Southern Living and is the author of multiple books. He lives in Alabama with his family.
