Murray Backs Gentry for PSC Seat
St. Clair Sheriff Billy Murray endorses Matt Gentry, citing leadership, work ethic, and a record of service across Alabama law enforcement
Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry has announced that he has secured the endorsement of St. Clair County Sheriff Billy J. Murray in his campaign for the Alabama Public Service Commission, Place 1.
Murray, who also serves as President of the Alabama Sheriffs Association, pointed to Gentry’s years of service and steady leadership as key reasons for his support.
“I have had the privilege of working with Sheriff Matt Gentry on critical issues affecting law enforcement for many years,” said Murray. “Sheriff Gentry has always been hard-working and dedicated to the citizens of Cullman County, and I feel he will bring the same focus and determination to complex issues facing the State of Alabama. I have witnessed Sheriff Gentry’s ability and work ethic, and I know he will represent our state well. I support and endorse Sheriff Matt Gentry for Public Service Commission.”
Gentry, a Marine Veteran who has spent more than 25 years in public safety, including service as a deputy and now Sheriff of Cullman County, said the endorsement carries weight given Murray’s standing among Alabama lawmen.
“Sheriff Murray is someone I respect greatly,” said Gentry. “His leadership across our state and his dedication to protecting our communities means a lot to me. He's seen my work firsthand and knows I won't back down from a fight. I'm running to protect Alabama ratepayers. I’m grateful for his support and will continue fighting to serve the people of Alabama with integrity and common sense.”
Gentry has centered his campaign on protecting ratepayers, pushing for greater transparency, and holding utility regulators accountable. The Alabama Public Service Commission oversees key issues tied to power, gas, and telecom services across the State.
