Myrex v Hollingsworth in District 12 Special Election as Runoff Confirmed
Runoff is August 12, 2025
A runoff election has been confirmed in the Alabama House District 12 Special Election, following the counting and certification of provisional ballots on Tuesday.
As previously reported, in the July 15 primary, Cindy Myrex received 49.81% of the votes, with Clint Hollingsworth receiving 43.24% of the 4,276 votes cast. Heather Doyle and Dan McWhorter were also on the ballot, receiving 3.51% and 3.44%, respectively.
ALPolitics.com reached out to both candidates for statements about the upcoming runoff.
Cindy Myrex responded, saying:
“I am so happy with the strong showing we had on Election Day! It shows great support of my message and purpose. I’m counting on my voters that came out and the ones that were not able to come out, to show up on August 12th.
“I am having a great time in District 12 and will continue to see as many Cullman Countians as possible before the runoff. I ask that my supporters know where to vote, and know to show up on August 12!!!! Let me be your conservative voice in Montgomery!”
Clint Hollingsworth told us that:
"I'm thankful to my supporters and everyone who showed up to vote in the primary. I'm proud of the campaign we've run so far and we've hit the ground running for the runoff. We've already filed our latest financial report and are back out in the community meeting more of the great people of Cullman County.
“The people of District 12 deserve to hear from the two candidates as soon as possible. It's important for legislators to show up to speak directly to their constituents, and debates are the perfect opportunity to answer our community's most pressing questions and concerns. We advocate for a debate to take place as soon as possible, and are ready and willing to participate."
