Guest opinion by Nell Brown, candidate for Alabama House, District 15

When I think about District 15, I think about home. I think about families working hard every day, students chasing big dreams, and neighbors who show up for one another in good times and in hard times. I am running to represent our district because I believe the people here deserve a leader who truly listens, understands, and fights for them.

I am a wife, a mother of three, and a proud graduate of Miles College. I am also a student at Miles Law School, continuing to grow so I can better serve my community. Along this journey, I took time to intern with the Alabama State House to see for myself the ins and outs of how our government works. That experience showed me both the challenges and the opportunities within our system, and it confirmed my belief that our voices in District 15 need to be stronger and more present in Montgomery.

My life has been shaped by faith, family, and service. Through my career in financial management,  leadership, and through years of community work, I have seen the power of people coming together with a shared purpose. Like many of you, I know what it feels like to face challenges and keep going for the sake of your family. That is what keeps me grounded in this campaign.

I want our children to walk into classrooms where they feel supported and inspired. I want families to have access to affordable healthcare without fear of losing everything they have worked for. I want small businesses in our community to not just survive but to thrive. And I want our neighborhoods to be safe, strong, and full of opportunity.

I am not running to be a politician. I am running to be a wife, a mother, a neighbor, and a voice for the people of District 15. Every decision I make will come from a place of honesty, fairness, and a deep commitment to a community that I take pride in.

I believe in us, and I believe in what we can accomplish together. That is why I am humbly asking for your support and your vote.
