Birmingham, AL – Doug for Alabama released a new TV ad Tuesday hitting Tommy Tuberville for taking campaign money from data center developers while pushing massive AI data centers across Alabama and dismissing Alabamians’ concerns about higher electric bills, water usage and the impact on their communities.
“Data center developers are getting big tax breaks from Montgomery, and Tommy Tuberville is taking their money,” Jones says in the ad. “Worse, Tuberville is pushing to build AI data centers across Alabama, and says your concerns about higher electric bills, water usage, harms to your communities and environment are, quote, ‘bullcrap.’”
Jones is calling for a one-year moratorium on new AI data center development to put guardrails in place and give communities a voice before projects move forward.
“As governor, I’ll impose a one-year moratorium to put guardrails in place to protect our communities,” Jones says. “One year to stop them from cramming this down our throats without you having a say.”
As AL.com reported last week, Applied Digital Corporation, a Dallas company connected to a potential data center in Brookwood, met with Tuberville and donated $25,000 to his campaign for governor in August.
The ad will run on broadcast and cable television, and may be seen on YouTube and below:
