MONTGOMERY (Oct. 21, 2026) — NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business Award to state Sen. Arthur Orr for his leadership on issues affecting Alabama’s small businesses.

Orr, who represents District 3, which includes Morgan, Madison and Limestone counties, has earned a 100% NFIB voting record throughout his 20 years in the Legislature. He is also a longtime NFIB member. He received the award today during a presentation at the Decatur-Morgan County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“Sen. Orr understands the challenges small-business owners face and has worked hard to address them,” NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash said. “He has been a strong voice for lower taxes, less paperwork and policies that help owners grow their businesses and create jobs.”

Orr has sponsored and helped pass measures to lower unemployment taxes, create an apprenticeship tax credit and simplify business paperwork. He also helped strengthen property owners’ rights and protect businesses from COVID-19 liability claims.

The Guardian of Small Business Award is NFIB’s most prestigious honor for lawmakers who show outstanding leadership and support for small businesses.

“His perfect voting record over two decades shows a lasting commitment to Alabama’s small businesses,” Elebash said. “We’re proud to recognize Sen. Orr for his leadership and his continued support of our members.”
