Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey officially qualified Monday as a Republican candidate for Alabama Attorney General, moving her yearlong campaign into its next phase.

Casey, a career prosecutor with nearly two decades of courtroom experience, said her candidacy is rooted in a record of direct service to victims and close work with law enforcement across the state. Her background includes prosecuting violent offenders, child predators, and human traffickers, along with appellate work on behalf of the State.

She argued that Alabama needs an attorney general with real courtroom depth, not one shaped by politics or bureaucracy.

“I am the only candidate who has put killers, child predators, human traffickers, and violent criminals in prison. I am the only one who has been in trial courts, the Court of Criminal Appeals, the Court of Civil Appeals, and the Alabama Supreme Court on behalf of the State of Alabama,” Casey said. “I have a proven record. That’s what Alabamians want and need—not a bureaucrat or a career politician.”

Casey qualified for the race alongside her husband and children, whom she credited as a constant source of support through the demands of public service.

“My family reminds me why this work matters,” Casey said. “Every case and every decision affects real families across Alabama. Protecting them has always been my mission.”

She closed by framing the race as a choice between experience and rhetoric.

“I’m running because Alabama deserves a proven prosecutor—someone who has spent a career actually doing the work, not just talking about it,” Casey said. “I’m ready to continue serving this state with integrity, experience, and an unwavering commitment to justice. I look forward to earning the trust and votes of Alabamians across this State.”

Since first taking office in 2010, Pamela Casey has built a reputation as one of Alabama’s most active and results-oriented prosecutors. As District Attorney of Blount County, she has personally handled roughly 97 percent of all felony trials in her office, a level of hands-on involvement that stands out among her peers. Her aggressive approach has produced long sentences in serious cases, including an average of 47 years in murder convictions under her watch.

Her work on behalf of children and families has drawn particular attention. In 2019, Casey prosecuted one of the State’s first jury trials involving a child victim of human trafficking, securing a 30-year sentence. More recently, she led prosecution in one of Alabama’s first sexual-torture cases involving a child under 7, resulting in life without parole. Between 2024 and 2025 alone, she tried several additional child sexual abuse cases with sentences ranging as high as 360 years.

Casey’s record has earned formal recognition. At the 2025 Alabama District Attorneys Association Summer Conference, she was named District Attorney of the Year. The award highlighted her commitment to justice, public safety, and protecting vulnerable citizens. Her nomination drew support from fellow prosecutors statewide.

Her campaign for Attorney General has also attracted broad law enforcement backing. More than 50 District Attorneys, Police Chiefs, and other officers have endorsed her bid, citing her experience, her work defending victims, and her collaborative relationships with those on the front lines of public safety. Supporters include leadership from local police departments and victim-advocacy groups who say Casey understands both the law and the daily challenges officers face.
