Pat Bishop Addresses Alabama Federation of Republican Women
Focused on themes of family values, education, fiscal responsibility, growth, honoring Veterans and public safety

Retired Army Major Pat Bishop spoke to a full ballroom in Birmingham recently, laying out his campaign for Lieutenant Governor and offering a personal vision rooted in service, faith and local opportunity.
At the 2025 Biennial Convention of the Alabama Federation of Republican Women (AFRW) held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park, Bishop introduced himself, explained why he’s running and sketched out the priorities that he says align with everyday Alabamians.
“I want to take just a moment to tell you why I’m running. Like many of you, I am deeply concerned about the direction our country is heading. I’m a proud Alabamian, and I believe in the promise of the American Dream. I believe in faith, family, and freedom. And I believe that when good people stand together, we can overcome any challenge. This isn't about politics for me. It’s personal. As a young paratrooper, I deployed often, never asking where, but only that I be given what I needed to complete my missions! I and other team members deployed to Somalia in 1993 to kill or capture Mohammed Farah Adid. Our combat leaders requested armored vehicles for this mission. During this time, Bill Clinton was POTUS and Les Aspen was the SecDef. They both declined our request for things we needed for a mission THEY SENT us on. You know how the story ended. We lost 18 men in combat, But the budget was balanced. As soon as this young Soldier returned to the United States, I changed my voting status and never looked back!” Bishop said.
Turning to his policy goals, Bishop added: “We need leaders, COMMON SENSE leaders.. who will fight for a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. That starts with getting our priorities right in Montgomery.”
Bishop described his campaign around several core themes:
- Family values and education: Bishop emphasized defending parent rights and boosting school choice. He stated, “We must ensure our children are receiving a high-quality education rooted in American values, and that parents are the ultimate authority in their children’s upbringing.”
- Fiscal responsibility: Bishop pledged to stop wasteful spending, cut taxes and support efforts such as removing the state sales tax on groceries to ease the burden on Alabama families.
- Economic growth and opportunity: He said Alabama must attract new businesses and create good-paying jobs. “I will champion policies that reduce regulations and empower our small businesses—the job creators of our state.”
- Public safety: Bishop promised to back law enforcement, enforce laws fully and pursue “strong measures against issues like illegal immigration.”
- Honoring veterans: The campaign also highlighted enabling pro-military legislation to support active-duty personnel, veterans and their families.
Bishop concluded his remarks with a direct appeal to the women of AFRW: “Let’s send a clear message that Alabama is, and will always be, a beacon of conservative values, traditional family, and unwavering faith. And who is on the front line of this fight? You are. You are the moms, the grandmothers, the sisters, and the daughters who are teaching the next generation about faith, family, and freedom. The Alabama Federation of Republican Women is a powerhouse for our party. Your leadership in organizing, advocating, and mobilizing is unmatched. From a military standpoint, again, You are our front line of the ground war, our conscience, and our inspiration. The future of our state and our country is at a crossroads, but I have never been more optimistic. I am optimistic because I know that with strong, principled women like you leading the way, Alabama will not only hold the line but will continue to lead the nation. Please secure this with your vote for Pat Bishop on May 19th 2026 and November 3rd 2026. During this campaign, and when the race is over… Don’t let the elephants and the donkeys make you forget that you belong to the Lamb! Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the great state of Alabama.”
Bishop entered the Republican race for Lieutenant Governor of Alabama in May 2025. His campaign emphasizes a “common-sense” leadership style rooted in his 26-year military service. The venue and audience—composed of influential Republican women in Alabama—reflect his intent to target grassroots organizers and conservative women’s networks.
