Pat Bishop Signs Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge
“Parents always have been and will always be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives”—Pat Bishop

Alabama Lieutenant Governor candidate Pat Bishop announced this week that he has signed the Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge following a candidate forum in Huntsville.
The forum took place Tuesday evening at Bullet and Barrel and was moderated by 1819 News. The event was also hosted by the Republican Women of Huntsville.
Bishop said the pledge reflects his position that parents—not government officials—should guide the upbringing and education of their children.
The Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge is a public commitment affirming that parents have the right to direct their children’s education, medical care, and moral upbringing. The national organization encourages elected officials and candidates to sign the pledge as a signal of support for parental authority and local control in education.
“I signed the Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge because, as a parent, a minister, and an American, I believe in the fundamental Biblical principles, the Constitution of the United States and basic common-sense, that parents are the ones who should direct and instruct on where our children go in life, not a politician!,” said MAJ Bishop.
Bishop said he believes restoring what he calls “common-sense leadership” means reaffirming the role families play in shaping the next generation.
“Let's get back to the basics. Parents always have been and will always be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives in Alabama as long as I am leading with other common-sense leaders. As I have done since I raised my hand in 1989 to fight to defend you, I will stand with mothers, fathers, and children in Alabama (and everywhere else) to keep parents at the helm and maintain a strong Alabama. This is one way we will make Alabama better (MAB).”
The pledge has been signed by a growing number of Alabama candidates and elected officials who support policies aimed at increasing parental transparency and limiting government involvement in family and school decisions.
