Post-Election Audit Act Passes AL House
63 - 30 vote sends bill to Senate

HB30, the Alabama Post-Election Audit Act passed the Alabama House Tuesday by a vote of 63 Yea to 30 Nay, with 6 abstentions. The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
Representative Debbie Wood (R-Valley), who introduced the bill, said this about its passage:
“Our citizens need to know that we are securing their votes and that election integrity is a priority.”
Election integrity is a fundamental issue for many voters, especially Alabama Republicans. The Alabama Republican Party posted a statement about the bill’s passage on X (formerly Twitter):
“The Alabama House has PASSED a bill to require post-election audits! This ensures accuracy, strengthens voter confidence, and protects the integrity of our elections. Thank you Representative @dwoodchambersct for your leadership on this critical issue!”
Critics of HB30 remain unsatisfied at what they see as serious shortcomings for the bill. Tiffany Knox of Focus on America responded to the bill’s passage by saying.
“HB30 is nothing more than a symbolic gesture rather than a genuine audit because it lacks breadth, depth, and rigor. A true audit should systematically test the entire election process, not just a tiny, cherry-picked sliver. HB30 leaves significant vulnerabilities unchecked and is far from being a functional tool to ensure electoral accuracy.”
The fate of HB30 now rests with the Republican-controlled Alabama Senate.
