RCCA Health Fair to offer free screenings and health services Sept. 19
Hoover event will be open to all from 10 AM — 2 PM
The Red Crescent Clinic of Alabama (RCCA), the Alabama chapter of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent in North America (APPNA-AL) and the Birmingham Islamic Society will continue their longstanding tradition of hosting their annual Community Health Fair on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 2524 Hackberry Lane in Hoover.
The free event is open to people of all ages, regardless of income, religion, gender, race, ethnicity or ability to pay. No appointment is required.
Services and screenings will include:
- Blood pressure screening
- Blood sugar testing
- Cholesterol and lipid-profile testing
- BMI measurements
- Hearing and vision screening
- Health counseling
- Flu shots
- Dental screening
- Diabetes and hormonal-health services
- Cancer screening and advice
Participating physicians include Drs. Malek Karossi, Aasim Sehbai, Sumaya Abed, Noureen Abbas, Zakir Khan, Irfan Rahim and Shirin Banu, according to organizers.
“Preventive care can help identify health problems early, when they are often easier to treat,” said Dr. Irfan Rahim, organizer of the annual health fair. “We encourage everyone to come, take advantage of these free screenings and make their health a priority.”
Organizers are encouraging residents to help spread information about the health fair through their personal and community networks.
Friends, neighbors, relatives, coworkers, neighborhood groups, social media, faith communities and local organizations can all play a role in reaching people who may benefit from the free services.
“Sometimes simply sharing information with someone can make a difference,” organizers said. “If you know someone who could benefit from these services, please tell them about the health fair.”
The annual event reflects RCCA’s continuing commitment to preventive health care and community service. By bringing volunteer physicians and free screenings together in one location, organizers hope to make it easier for individuals and families to take an active role in their health.
