Guest Opinion by Diane Caldwell

On Wednesday afternoon I sat down at my computer to compose an email to all of you recapping the wonderfully informative meeting we'd had only 24 hours earlier. Across the top of my screen flashed the news that Charlie Kirk had been shot in Utah. Soon after, we all learned the devastating news that he had died.

There are no words to adequately describe the evil that must have been in a young man's heart to plan and carry out this assassination. His father turned him in and I cannot imagine his heartbreak in learning that his son is a murderer. We must now pray for the Robinson family in addition to Erika and the Kirk family. I believe Charlie would want this.

Charlie died doing what he loved to do, engaging with young people and openly debating ideas. He was a fierce patriot who spoke the truth and loved this country, but above all, he loved our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Some of us had the opportunity to meet him over the years at various GOP or TPUSA events. He is seen in the foreground of the photo above, seated with Kimberly and Greg Cook and others at an ALGOP dinner in 2018. I appreciate her allowing me to share it with you.

Charlie's death should not be in vain. We must honor him and challenge ourselves to do all that we can do by speaking the truth and working to advance conservative ideas, no matter how uncomfortable that may be at times.

God bless you and God bless our great country.
