Rep. Dale Strong to Host 50th Anniversary Ceremony for Vietnam Veterans in North Alabama
August 15 ceremony will take place in Huntsville
On August 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., Congressman Dale Strong (R-AL5) will hold a special ceremony at Auburn University’s Research & Innovation Campus, 345 Voyager Way NW, Huntsville, to honor Vietnam War Veterans living in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District.
The event commemorates those who served any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975, providing each eligible Veteran with a commemorative pin—an official gesture of thanks and remembrance.
"We owe a debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who answered our nation's call and served with honor in the United States Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. These courageous Americans stood firm in the face of danger and unimaginable hardship to ensure that freedom, democracy, and the values we hold dear would triumph over the evils of communism. This ceremony will honor them not merely as veterans, but as true American heroes who risked everything in the defense of freedom," said Congressman Strong.
"I am proud to participate in the Vietnam Veterans 50th Anniversary Pin Program, a meaningful initiative to express our nation's gratitude to those who served with courage and distinction. North Alabama is home to a large and vibrant veteran community whose sacrifices have strengthened the very foundation of our freedom. This program offers us an important opportunity to publicly recognize their service and to present them with a small token of appreciation for their sacrifice," Strong concluded.
In 2024, Congressman Strong personally pinned 200 Vietnam Veterans who reside in Alabama's 5th Congressional District.
Under the authority of the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, any Veteran who served in the stated period and lives in Alabama’s Fifth District is eligible. Pins may be requested via the Vietnam Veterans Anniversary Pin Program form on Strong.House.gov—attendance at the ceremony is optional.
Veterans unable to attend in person may still request a pin. Visit Strong.House.gov to complete the official request form.
