In a Facebook post shared today, U.S. Representative Robert Aderholt (AL4) called on Alabamians to support the new Alabama America250AL specialty license plate campaign. Aderholt, who serves as a Commissioner on the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, said the plates would mark a patriotic milestone—and strengthen local educational and civic programs.

“As a proud member of the America 250 Commission, I’m working with leaders across the nation to plan the celebration of America’s 250th birthday in 2026. This is a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity for Alabamians to show our state’s patriotic spirit and contribute to a milestone that will be remembered for generations.
“Today, I’m thrilled to share an exciting way YOU can be part of this historic celebration. The Alabama America250AL License Plate Campaign is now underway! If we can reach 250 pre‑commitments, these beautiful specialty plates will become available on Alabama’s roads—just in time to commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary.
“Every plate is not just a show of pride, but also supports educational programs and local initiatives that will make America’s Semiquincentennial unforgettable right here in Alabama.
“Let’s come together as Alabamians to celebrate our shared history and the bright future ahead. Join me in helping this campaign cross the finish line!”

Rep. Aderholt is one of the legislators selected to serve on the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission. This body, established by Congress in 2016, is in charge of planning and coordinating the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026. Aderholt serves as a Congressional Co‑Chair, alongside other Representatives and Senators.

His leadership has included promoting Statewide participation in national initiatives. In April, he led Alabama’s “Two Lights of Tomorrow” commemoration. Alabamians were invited to light two lanterns on April 18, marking the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride and encouraging community engagement.

Aderholt also welcomed fellow Alabamian Jimmy Rane’s appointment to the Commission. He praised Rane as embodying the “American Dream” and Alabama’s enduring spirit, reaffirming the State’s role in the national celebration.

The America250AL plate campaign needs 250 firm pre‑commitments before specialty plates may be produced and issued by the State DMV. Aderholt highlighted that reaching this goal would ensure availability in time for America’s semiquincentennial in 2026. Proceeds from plate fees are set to fund education programs and local events tied to the big celebration.

Specialty license plates are a low-cost but high-visibility way to build pride in local communities. Aderholt described the campaign as a tangible way for residents to join in history, noting that each reserved plate supports lasting local impact.

If successful, Alabama’s America250AL plate will be a visible symbol on roads and highways—and a community-backed investment in history that lasts.
