Rodney Walker: Pass the SAVE Act
Alabama Businessman and U.S. Senate Candidate Says Congress Must Deliver on Citizenship Verification and Women's Sports — No More Excuses
From the Walker campaign
Lineville, AL - Rodney Walker, Alabama businessman and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, today called on the Senate to pass the SA VE America Act and include the amendment banning biological males from competing in women's sports, without delay and without further excuses.
"The American people have been asking for two simple things: make sure only citizens vote, and keep men out of women's sports. Both are common sense. Both have overwhelming public support. And both are sitting on the Senate floor right now. Pass them."
Walker voiced full support for the SAVE America Act, which passed the House on February 11 and is now before the Senate. The legislation would require documentary proof of citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, to register to vote in federal elections. Walker called it long overdue.
"It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote. The SA VE Act just makes sure we can enforce that. Every legitimate voter should want that. Anyone fighting this bill owes Alabamians an explanation."
Walker also voiced strong support for the amendment that would codify into permanent federal law a ban on biological males competing in women's sports, making permanent what President Trump established by executive order. Walker noted that executive orders can be reversed by any future administration and that Congress must act to make these protections permanent.
"Women worked too hard for too long to have their opportunities taken away. Congress needs to lock this in, permanently, not leave it to executive orders that can be undone the next time the wrong person wins the White House."
Walker, a construction, quarry, fuel, and cattle businessman from Lineville, is running on a platform of delivering results for working Alabamians, not political theater. He pointed to the current Senate floor fight as proof that Washington talks while Alabama waits.
"I'm running because Alabamians deserve a senator who shows up to work and gets things done. The SAVE Act and the amendment aren't complicated. They're what the people want. As your next United States Senator I will fight every day for the things that Alabamians want.
