Rodney Walker Qualifies for Alabama GOP Senate Primary
Walker files for U.S. Senate in Birmingham, joins crowded Republican field ahead of May primary
Rodney Walker has made his campaign official, qualifying as a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate at the Alabama Republican Party headquarters in Birmingham.
Walker filed paperwork as part of the formal opening of candidate qualifying, which runs through January 23. The Alabama GOP now lists Walker among those who have qualified for the U.S. Senate nomination.
Supporters, volunteers and members of the media joined Walker at the party offices during the qualifying event. Campaign workers handed out T-shirts, signs and literature. Walker spent time greeting attendees and speaking with reporters about his decision to run. His campaign bus drew attention as it arrived at the headquarters.
Walker is one of several Republicans seeking to succeed retiring U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville in the 2026 race. The GOP field also includes U.S. Rep. Barry Moore, Attorney General Steve Marshall, Jared Hudson, Morgan Murphy and Jeremy Spratling.
A lifelong Alabamian and businessman, Walker built multiple companies in the state and says he has created more than 1,000 jobs over the course of his career. He grew up in Talladega and emphasizes faith, family and hard work as the foundation of his life and career.
“This campaign is about showing up, listening, and fighting for the people of this state,” Walker said when he launched his campaign. “No matter how cold it gets, no matter how dark it gets, I will be there for you, because you are my people, and I don’t give up on my people.”
Walker has been traveling across Alabama since his announcement, opening campaign offices and rolling out his first television advertisement ahead of the crowded GOP primary. Last month, he participated in a leadership conference at Mar-a-Lago, which brought together elected officials, activists, and influencers to dialogue on issues facing the nation
The U.S. Senate seat will be decided in the May 19 primary, with a runoff scheduled for June 16 if no candidate wins a majority. The general election is November 3, 2026.
