U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) helped secure nearly $119.4 million in funding for military installations across the state. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Britt played a key role in moving the 2026 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act—known as the MilCon-VA bill—through committee. The full Senate is expected to vote on it soon before it heads over to the House of Representatives.

Out of the total, Senator Britt directly secured about $32.4 million for critical improvements to Alabama’s military bases. In a statement released on July 21, she said, “The future of our national defense infrastructure and warfighter will be stronger because of these investments in Alabama’s world-class capabilities. Now more than ever we need to protect our homeland from 21st-century threats. I know Alabama will be indispensable to ensuring America’s military readiness and unmatched lethality across the globe. and look forward to getting this funding over the finish line to bring our tax dollars home to our communities.”

Most of the money is headed to Fort Rucker, where nearly $28.4 million will support several key projects. These include a new flight control tower and fire and rescue station at Tabernacle Stagefield, a medical evacuation support facility, and maintenance upgrades for aircraft. Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery will receive $4 million to support its Combined All-Domain Wargaming Center, a state-of-the-art facility that helps prepare military leaders for modern challenges across air, land, sea, space, and cyber operations.

Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville is set to receive the largest single project investment: $55 million for a new Propulsion Systems Building, which will support advanced defense research and development. Meanwhile, Anniston Army Depot will benefit from $32 million to build a general-purpose warehouse to improve operations and logistics.

Altogether, the full MilCon-VA bill includes $19.8 billion for the Department of Defense’s military construction program and $133.3 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs, including essential healthcare funding for our veterans.

This funding shows Senator Britt’s continued commitment to strengthening Alabama’s role in national defense. It also highlights how federal dollars can be brought back home to serve local communities and support the service members and veterans who live and work here. The bill is one step closer to final passage, and if approved by both chambers, it will help modernize our bases, support our troops, and reinforce Alabama’s reputation as a cornerstone of America’s military strength.
