Sheriff Mack Backs Wes Allen for Alabama Lt. Governor
Retired Baldwin County Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack endorses Wes Allen in his bid for Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor
Wes Allen picked up a notable law-enforcement endorsement Thursday when retired Baldwin County Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack announced his support for Allen’s campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Alabama. Allen is seeking the Republican nomination ahead of the May 19, 2026, primary election.
Mack said he has known Allen for nearly 20 years and views him as a strong public servant and supporter of law enforcement. “For almost two decades I’ve worked with Wes Allen. He has always been a strong supporter of law enforcement and an example of what a public servant should be,” Mack said. “As our next Lieutenant Governor he will continue to advance Alabama and keep our communities safe.”
Allen welcomed the endorsement from the long-time Sheriff. “Sheriff Mack has dedicated his life to law and order and keeping Alabamians safe,” Allen said. “I am truly grateful for his support and for the support of law enforcement across the State.”
The Mack endorsement adds to a growing list of law-enforcement and business endorsements for Allen’s campaign. Across the State, 20 Republican sheriffs have publicly backed Allen’s bid for lieutenant governor, highlighting his record and support among law-enforcement leaders.
Allen has served as Alabama’s Secretary of State since 2023. Before that, he represented his region in the Alabama House of Representatives and served as a probate judge. His campaign emphasizes law enforcement support and conservative leadership as central themes ahead of the May 2026 Republican primary.
