Strong Announces New Post Office for 35763 ZIP Code
USPS plans a new post office for the fast-growing 35763 area as Rep. Dale Strong pushes for better mail service across North Alabama
The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is moving forward with plans to construct a new post office to serve the 35763 ZIP code in southeastern Madison County, according to an announcement from U.S. Representative Dale W. Strong (R-AL-05).
The new facility is intended to keep pace with rapid residential growth in communities such as Hampton Cove and Owens Cross Roads, where population gains have placed new strain on mail delivery and local postal infrastructure.
“I am pleased that USPS is moving forward on plans to construct a new facility in the 35763- zip code to keep pace with residential development and southeastern Madison County’s unprecedented population growth,” said Congressman Strong. “My constituents should be able to count on the postal service to deliver mail securely and on time, and I am hopeful this new facility will accomplish just that.”
Since taking office, Strong has raised repeated concerns with the United States Postal Service about service problems across North Alabama. Those concerns include delivery delays, staffing shortages, facility limits, and long-standing routing and ZIP code issues affecting residents throughout Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District.
“While this is a step in the right direction for the residents of the 35763-zip code, there is more work to be done across North Alabama. I will continue to press USPS leadership for improved staffing, upgraded facilities, and better mail processing operations so that every community in our district receives the reliable service they deserve,” said Strong.
Strong’s office points to several efforts over the past three years aimed at improving postal operations in the region. Those actions include advocating for a new post office to serve the fast-growing 35763 area and urging USPS to establish a standalone North Alabama processing and distribution facility to strengthen regional mail operations.
The congressman also secured language in a federal appropriations measure requiring USPS to review its consolidation of Huntsville’s processing and distribution center and report back to Congress on delivery delays and related service impacts.
In addition, Strong obtained a provision directing USPS to conduct an internal review of inaccurate address listings and overlapping ZIP code designations. The review includes long-standing addressing concerns affecting residents in Priceville.
Strong’s congressional office also reports assisting hundreds of constituents with postal service issues, including cases involving lost, delayed, or misrouted mail.
The 35763 ZIP code has seen sharp growth in recent years as development expanded across southeastern Madison County. Local residents have previously raised concerns that the existing postal infrastructure has struggled to keep pace with the area’s rapid population gains.
USPS has not yet announced a site location or construction timeline for the new facility.
