Strong Hails 'One Big Beautiful Bill' as Win for Alabama and America
“The One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers on President Trump's promises to the American people”-Dale Strong

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R‑AL5) touted the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) as a historic victory for American families, small businesses, and the State of Alabama.
In a statement released following the OBBB’s final approval, Strong called the legislation a fulfillment of former President Donald Trump’s promises. “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill delivers on President Trump's promises to the American people,” Strong said. “It secures massive tax cuts for American families and businesses, complete border security, a supercharged economy, and accountability in taxpayer-funded programs, while reducing out-of-control government spending.”
Strong emphasized the bill’s impact on his District, pointing to gains in defense, space exploration, rural healthcare, and agriculture. “From our space, defense, and manufacturing sectors to our working families, farmers, and small business owners — all of North Alabama will benefit from President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill,” he said.
The legislation directs billions in funding to key projects in Alabama. The Marshall Space Flight Center is set to receive $4.1 billion for the development of two Space Launch System rockets tied to NASA’s Artemis IV and V missions, along with $20 million for Orion spacecraft integration and another $100 million for facility upgrades. The bill also secures Alabama’s 6 percent hospital provider tax rate and unlocks $500 million in federal funds through a $50 billion national rural health program that will run through 2030.
For agriculture, the bill raises reference prices to better reflect current market conditions, strengthens the farm safety net, and expands access to crop insurance.
On the national defense front, $25 billion has been allocated to the Golden Dome missile defense initiative, which Redstone Arsenal is expected to help support. The legislation also sets aside $150 billion in defense funding through 2034, including $19 billion to replenish the U.S. weapons stockpile.
For families and small businesses, the legislation blocks a projected 22 percent tax hike and raises take-home pay for a typical family of four by an estimated $7,600 to $10,900 per year. Additional tax cuts eliminate federal taxes on tips, overtime pay, and interest on U.S.-made car loans, while offering new relief for seniors.
Border security provisions in the bill mark a major shift in immigration enforcement. The legislation includes funding for 701 miles of primary border wall construction and 900 miles of river barriers. It adds 3,000 new Border Patrol agents and 5,000 new customs officers, and expands ICE’s budget for transportation and deportation operations.
The bill also advances a conservative fiscal agenda. It introduces new work requirements for able-bodied adults without young dependents to receive benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid. It ends Medicaid coverage for an estimated 1.4 million undocumented immigrants and repeals several environmental and regulatory programs linked to the Biden administration’s Green New Deal.
President Trump is expected to sign the bill into law on July 4.
