Student Eagles Let Alabama’s Youths Make a Difference
“Anybody can have an impact. You can start making a difference right now””—Brady Johnson
Student Eagles of Cullman President Brady Johnson spoke to the recent Eagle Forum Policy Conference about the group which he helped found and now leads. While not formally on the schedule for the Conference, Eagle Forum of Alabama President Becky Gerritson asked Johnson to address the attendees about the Student Eagles.
Johnson related that the group began with about five or ten students, but now has grown to forty members and two chapters across the State—with more chapters being planned for launch in the near future.
Recently, the group held their major annual event, the Run for Life. This was the second year of the Run, which benefits pro-life causes. This year, the Run was in support of the First Source for Women pregnancy center and the Cullman County Foster Parent Association.
The group publishes a newsletter, the Soar Report, and has just released their second podcast, which featured ALGOP Chairman John Wahl. They also have a very active social media presence.
“Anybody can have an impact.” Johnson said. “You can start making a difference right now. Making a difference doesn’t start with changing the world. Making a difference starts with changing your life.”
Going forward, Johnson said that the Student Eagles will be “encouraging and empowering students to rise up and make a difference in their communities,” while providing “the resources and training they need” to be effective. The group makes a point to emphasize the importance of biblical values on society as part of their training and message.
“I believe that what we need to focus on with Student Eagles is action. Our mission with Student Eagles is to take action and make a real difference,” Johnson concluded.
A Statewide Student Leadership Conference is being planned for the spring, but no details about this event are available at this time.
A number of Student Eagles attended the Policy Conference, assisting with the smooth running of the event.
ALPolitics.com has previously published opinion pieces by members of the Student Eagles, and has reached out to others in the group for more content in the future. We look forward to sharing their ideas on this platform.
