PLEASANT GROVE, Ala. – The James Bradberry IV Foundation, in partnership with Senator Merika Coleman, the City of Pleasant Grove, and community sponsors, proudly presents the 2nd Annual "Books Not Bullets" Backpack & School Supplies Giveaway—a city-wideYouth Explosion that promises to be bigger than ever.

The free event takes place Saturday, July 25, at 10:00 a.m. at JCIB Pleasant Grove Campus (805 7th Avenue, Pleasant Grove, AL).

Families can enjoy:

  • FREE backpacks and school supplies (all grades)
  • 7-on-7 football featuring the Pleasant Grove Spartans vs. McAdory
  • Athletic skills testing
  • FREE food in partnership with Chick-fil-A Hueytown
  • FREE haircuts
  • Gaming truck
  • Petting zoo
  • Giveaways and more

"Our goal is to invest in our youth by giving them the tools they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom," said Salathiel Vann, Board President of the James Bradberry IV Foundation. "This event is about more than backpacks—it's about hope, opportunity, education, mentorship, and bringing our communities together."

Presented by Senator Merika Coleman (District 19), the event is made possible through the support of the City of Pleasant Grove, First Baptist Church Pleasant Grove, Pleasant Grove Fire Department, Pleasant Grove Youth Football & Cheer, PG High School Football,Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beautiful Barks, DreaMentali, Chick-fil-A Hueytown, and many other community partners.
