Birmingham, AL — The City of Birmingham is partnering with the United States Coast Guard to host Coast Guard Information Day, an event designed to help local businesses access federal contracting opportunities andstrengthen Birmingham’s small business ecosystem. The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at Boutwell Auditorium, located at 1930 Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. The event is expected to attract hundreds of local business owners, entrepreneurs and vendors interestedin learning how to do business with the Coast Guard.
Information Day will provide participants with practical guidance on the federal procurement process, including how to register with SAM.gov, the federal government’s official vendor registration system, and the steps required tobecome eligible to compete for future Coast Guard contracts. Coast Guard procurement professionals and subject matter experts will lead presentations and answer questions from attendees.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to creating economic opportunity for Birmingham businesses,” said Mayor Randall L. Woodfin. “When our local companies are equipped to compete for federal contracts, they can grow,create jobs and bring new investment back into our community. We want Birmingham businesses to know these opportunities exist and have the tools to pursue them.”
The event supports the City’s ongoing efforts to expand access to business development resources, strengthen entrepreneurship and position Birmingham companies to compete in local, state and federal marketplaces. Attendees will hear from Coast Guard representatives on:
- Navigating the federal contracting process.
- Registering with SAM.gov.
- Becoming eligible to compete for Coast Guard procurement opportunities.
- Resources available to support vendors throughout the contracting process.
- Questions and answers with Coast Guard procurement professionals.
The event is free and open to businesses interested in exploring opportunities to provide goods and services to the U.S. Coast Guard.
