The Moore You Know

From the office of Congressman Barry Moore (R-AL-01)

This month we were hard at work up in DC and in the district to deliver for the people of Alabama. We voted on legislation that secures our nation's elections and heard from President Trump how America is once again stronger at home and respected abroad.
If you need help from my office with the VA, IRS, or another federal agency, or with a government service like passport processing, please reach out to us. We’ve resolved over 7,500 cases since I took office in 2021. I promise I will continue to fight for you, your family, and Alabama’s 1st Congressional District.
Please reach out to my office at barrymoore.house.gov or 202-225-2901 if we can help you or your family in any way and keep reading for the full update.
Sincerely,
Rep. Barry Moore
Member of Congress

Heard from President Trump - America is back on track!

President Trump made clear in his State of the Union address, our country is back on track - we’re once again stronger at home and respected abroad. We’ve secured the border, rebuilt our military, stood shoulder to shoulder with law enforcement, and delivered real relief through President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts that are putting more of Alabamians hard-earned money back in their pockets.

It was an honor to attend the State of the Union with Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd and hear about the impact the Trump administration's secure border policies have decreased the amount of drug related crimes and are keeping our communities safer.

Introduced the VA Call Center Multi-Factor Authentication Act

This month I introduced the  VA Call Center Multi-Factor Authentication Act, legislation to strengthen identity verification protections at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) call centers for high-impact actions involving veterans’ benefits and sensitive information.

Our veterans have sacrificed for this country, and the last thing they should have to worry about is a scammer stealing their hard-earned benefits. As impersonators grow more sophisticated, we must ensure the VA keeps pace by securing high-impact actions with modern multi-factor authentication. My legislation protects veterans’ personal information and benefits without creating red tape for everyday interactions.

Supported the SAVE America Act to strengthen election integrity

I voted to support the  SAVE America Act, legislation introduced by Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) to strengthen election integrity and ensure only U.S. citizens vote in federal elections.

American elections should only be decided by American citizens.

After years of record illegal immigration and weak enforcement under the Biden Administration's policies, the SAVE America Act would enact common-sense safeguards like proof of citizenship and photo ID. This bill protects American voters, strengthens confidence in our elections, and ensures every legal vote counts. Securing the ballot box is essential to preserving self-government, and Congress has a responsibility to act. I’m proud to stand with President Trump and my colleagues to defend election integrity.

 The SAVE America Act would:

  • Require individuals to present an eligible photo ID before voting.
  • Ensure states must verify citizenship, in person, when registering an individual to vote.
  • Require states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls.
  • Empower citizens to bring civil suits against election officials that fail to uphold the SAVE Act's proof of citizenship requirements.
  • Direct the Election Assistance Commission to update any guidance associated with the SAVE Act, streamline updates to federal forms, and ensure states with same-day registration can comply with the bill.

Recognized Mobile as the birthplace of Mardi Gras

I introduced a resolution with Congressman Shomari Figures (AL-02), recognizing the cultural and historical significance of Mardi Gras and affirming Mobile, Alabama, as the birthplace of the celebration in the United States.

Mardi Gras didn’t start somewhere else and eventually find its way to Mobile, it started right here in 1703. For more than 300 years, the people of Mobile have celebrated Mardi Gras with parades, balls, and community, marking the close of Carnival and the beginning of Lent. This tradition reflects the shared culture and community found on the Gulf Coast, passed down generation after generation. Mobile was the original home of Mardi Gras in America, and this resolution makes sure that history is recognized and remembered.
