The Right Move: Tuberville - Dismantling DEI to Restore Meritocracy
"Joe Biden and Kamala Harris nearly destroyed the fabric of our country with this woke, racist ideology."

The introduction of the Dismantle DEI Act by Senator Tommy Tuberville, Senator Eric Schmitt, and Congressman Michael Cloud is a necessary and long-overdue step to restoring fairness and meritocracy in America. At its core, the act codifies President Trump's decisive actions to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs from the federal government—an essential move to prevent future administrations from reinstating these divisive policies.
For too long, DEI has prioritized identity over ability, creating a system where qualifications take a backseat to ideological conformity. As Senator Tuberville rightly pointed out, “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris nearly destroyed the fabric of our country with this woke, racist ideology. We need to focus on hiring the best and brightest, not dividing people based on skin color.”
The American experiment has always thrived on meritocracy. This country was built on the principle that individuals should be judged by their talents and work ethic—not by arbitrary identity markers. But DEI programs have embedded racial and gender preferences into hiring and education, making identity politics the central criterion for advancement. This is not only counterproductive but also fundamentally un-American.
Senator Schmitt echoed this sentiment, stating, “DEI has plagued our federal government, academic institutions, and other aspects of our society for far too long, all while disregarding merit in the process. America is the greatest meritocracy the world has ever seen, and no taxpayer dollars should be wasted on funding this divisive ideology which undercuts the values our country was founded on.”
This legislation is not just about eliminating a set of policies—it is about reaffirming our nation’s founding values. President Trump’s Executive Order 14151, “Ending Radical And Wasteful Government DEI Programs And Preferencing,” was a critical first step, but Congress must ensure these programs do not resurface under different names or through bureaucratic loopholes. The Dismantle DEI Act guarantees that all DEI offices are permanently shuttered, prohibits federal funding for DEI training or initiatives, and provides legal recourse for individuals harmed by these policies.
The American people deserve a government that promotes excellence, not division. The passage of the Dismantle DEI Act is a necessary course correction to ensure that qualifications, dedication, and competence remain the defining factors in government, business, and education. The future of our country depends on it.
