The Shutdown is Over! Now, Tell Us: What Did You Miss?
ALPolitics.com is asking you to tell us what—if anything—you missed during the government shutdown
Last evening, President Trump signed a package of spending bills that will fund the government until January 30, 2026, ending the longest government shutdown in history. The package, which was passed by the House earlier on Wednesday, also funds three of the twelve appropriations that keep the federal government running—agriculture, military construction-Veterans Affairs, and legislative branch—through September of 2026.
With the President's signature, military service members and federal workers will receive their back pay. Air traffic controllers should begin returning to work, with a resumption of regular service just in time for the Thanksgiving travel rush. And SNAP benefits—which fall under the Department of Agriculture—will begin refilling within days.
Military and air traffic controller pay and SNAP benefits were among the most noticeable elements of “normal life” that affected many Americans, but ALPolitics.com has to ask: what else did you miss? What government services adversely affected your life these last 43 days by their absence?
