U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville has made a historic entry into the 2026 Alabama gubernatorial race, announcing that his campaign raised over $2 million within the first 24 hours—a record-breaking figure for the State.

According to his campaign, Tuberville amassed $2,064,723 in donations, surpassing previous fundraising benchmarks for Alabama gubernatorial candidates. The campaign emphasized that these contributions came exclusively from individual donors, including small business owners, entrepreneurs, workers, and retirees across the state.

“There are two universal truths in the Yellowhammer State right now: Alabamians love President Trump, and they want Coach Tuberville to be their next Governor,” said Jackie Curtiss Cox, a fundraiser for Tuberville’s campaign. “I’ve never seen momentum like this in my more than ten years in Alabama politics. Coach Tuberville broke the Alabama fundraising record in the first 24 hours of his campaign.”

Tuberville officially launched his gubernatorial bid on Tuesday at Byron’s Smokehouse in Auburn, the same location where he began his 2020 Senate campaign. During the announcement, he outlined his priorities, including strengthening education, curbing illegal immigration, and boosting state manufacturing. He also reaffirmed his alignment with President Donald Trump, stating, “Like President Trump, I’ll continue to protect common sense and stand up for our shared conservative values in Montgomery.”

The campaign's early financial success has been bolstered by endorsements from key organizations. Notably, the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama became the first major Trade Association to endorse Tuberville’s gubernatorial bid, signaling strong support from the business community.

Despite the impressive fundraising figures, Tuberville's campaign has not been without controversy. Questions regarding his residency have surfaced, with critics pointing to Alabama's seven-year residency requirement for gubernatorial candidates. Tuberville maintains that he has met all eligibility criteria, asserting that Auburn is his primary residence.

As the 2026 election approaches, Tuberville's record-setting fundraising and high-profile endorsements position him as a formidable contender in the race to succeed term-limited Governor Kay Ivey.
