Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Senate has officially confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), making her the first former member of Congress to hold the position. Gabbard’s confirmation received bipartisan support, with Alabama Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville voting in favor of her appointment.

Senator Katie Britt praised Gabbard’s commitment to national security and her pledge to ensure unbiased intelligence reporting.

“Today, I voted to confirm Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence because she will do everything in her power to keep Americans safe and ensure our homeland is secure,” said Senator Britt. “When I met with her in my office, she highlighted the importance of analytical objectivity in this role and painting a complete picture to help President Trump make critical decisions with all of the information. I have faith in Director Gabbard’s ability to ensure the intelligence community is focused on its true mission by making key reforms that take biased bureaucracy out of national security. She will be a key player in achieving President Trump’s Peace Through Strength doctrine. Together, I look forward to making America safe again.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing Gabbard’s leadership and commitment to transparency within the intelligence community.

“Tulsi Gabbard has a proven track record of standing up for the American people and ensuring our national security interests always come first,” said Senator Tuberville. “Her experience in Congress and her military service give her a unique perspective on the threats we face. I believe she will be a strong and independent leader who will push back against politicization within our intelligence agencies. I look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have in this critical role.”

Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii and a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, has long been an advocate for non-interventionist foreign policy and government accountability. In her confirmation hearing, she emphasized the need for a depoliticized intelligence community that serves the interests of the American people above all else.

“I am honored to serve as the Director of National Intelligence and will work tirelessly to ensure our intelligence agencies remain focused on their core mission: protecting the American people,” Gabbard said following her confirmation. “I am committed to fostering an intelligence community that prioritizes objective analysis, transparency, and integrity.”

Her confirmation marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to reshape the intelligence community under the Trump administration’s second term. As Gabbard assumes her new role, she is expected to prioritize intelligence reforms, address concerns of political bias within agencies, and strengthen national security strategies in an increasingly complex global landscape.
