I wanted to take this time to update you on some of my work on behalf of the Second Congressional District.

Deadline for Our Farmers

There is an upcoming deadline for local producers looking to apply for safety net programs. 

Eligible landowners have until August 31, 2026, to review and consider base acre increases for the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs.

Rural Decentralized Water System Grant Program

The DWS Grant Program has been established to help individuals with low to moderate incomes finance certain costs of household water wells and individually owned decentralized wastewater systems that they own or will own. Grants are made to eligible nonprofit organizations to establish and maintain a revolving fund to provide loans and sub-grants to eligible individuals for individually owned water well systems and/or individually owned wastewater systems.

Visit to J.L. Farms

Thank you to Miles Brown and his family for showing me around their farm and for a good conversation about the issues facing our agriculture industry.

On my visit, I learned about regenerative farming and what is necessary to sustain farms like these. Our farmers deserve our support, and I will continue to do everything I can to help families keep their farms now and for future generations.

Barbour County Town Hall and Senior Resource Fair

I hosted a Senior Resource Fair in Eufaula where we were able to help connect local seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities with vital resources and services that they need and deserve! A big thank you to state Sen. Billy Beasley, state Rep. Berry Forte and all the local organizations for being a part of this event. 

I also held a town hall in Eufaula to hear about the challenges people are facing every day. It’s important to me to meet and listen to the people I have the pleasure of representing in Washington, DC.

Montgomery Chamber of Commerce

Enjoyed giving the Washington Update to the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. We talked about my work to bring federal funding to the area and our shared priorities to strengthen the local economy and support small businesses in our area.

Phenix City Young Professionals

I had a great time meeting with young professionals in Phenix City to hear about the challenges facing their generation and the issues impacting our community. Thank you to everyone who showed up!

Tariff Impacted Farmer Support Act 

Our farmers are the backbone of our economy and of rural communities across Alabama. However, right now they're struggling. Market disruptions, the loss of trade partners, and overall uncertainty caused by President Trump's tariffs have made it difficult to stay in business, especially for our small and mid-sized farmers.  

That's why I introduced a bill to provide targeted financial relief and support for local farmers who produce cotton, peanuts, soybeans, corn, and poultry. Our farmers deserve our support, and my bill will provide the financial assistance needed to preserve family farming operations, strengthen our rural economies, and ensure that our producers can continue feeding, fueling, and clothing our nation. Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Act
The Tuskegee Airmen are among the most heroic and consequential soldiers that our nation has ever had. Their courage, skill, and unwavering dedication not only contributed to the Allied victory but also helped pave the way for the desegregation of the U.S. military.

I'm proud to have introduced the bipartisan Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Act to create a memorial in Washington, DC, to commemorate the service, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. This legislation is cosponsored by 37 members of the House of Representatives, including the entire Alabama House Congressional Delegation. Click here to read more about this bill!

Tuskegee Airmen Post Office 

Great News: My bipartisan bill to rename a post office in Tuskegee in honor of the Tuskegee Airmen passed the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. This is major progress towards my bill becoming law. 

The Tuskegee Airmen were national heroes and trailblazers who had an undeniable, lasting impact on our country, and renaming this post office is a meaningful way to bring attention to our history and honor their legacy.
