Veterans from All 67 Alabama Counties Back Murphy for U.S. Senate
Murphy, a Navy Reserve Captain with 26 years of service, has pledged to proudly serve Alabama’s 300,000 Veterans when elected
Nearly 90 military Veterans—including at least one representative from each of Alabama’s 67 counties—have formally endorsed Captain Morgan Murphy in his bid to succeed Tommy Tuberville in the U.S. Senate.
Murphy, a Navy Reserves officer with more than 26 years of service, is a national-security and foreign-policy expert. He has worked in the Tuberville office as well as in both of the Donald Trump administrations.
“I have served in the Air Force for 32 years and Morgan Murphy represents our values,” said Colonel Douglas “Cinco” DeMaio of Autauga County. “Dedication and service to the nation. Morgan Murphy will make an excellent senator for the great state of Alabama. I hope other Veterans and Alabamians join me in my support of Morgan Murphy for the U.S. Senate.”
In a statement accepting the endorsements, Murphy said:
“Serving my country’s military has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and when I am elected to the Senate, I will proudly serve the more than 300,000 Veterans from Alabama. As the next Senator, I will always remember those who have worn their nation’s uniform and been willing to fight and die for their nation. Too often, our Veterans come home from military conflicts and are forgotten by our political establishment in Washington, D.C. I will be their voice and their advocate on Capitol Hill and, most importantly, never vote to send a son or daughter of Alabama to fight in an endless war as so many reckless senators have in the past.”
Murphy is running in the 2026 Republican primary for the open Senate seat, as Tuberville is not seeking re-election. His campaign emphasizes his military and national-security background along with conservative priorities.
The Veterans’ coalition spans service branches and counties—from Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps personnel in every corner of Alabama. The public list of endorsers names individuals from Autauga to Wilcox counties.
As Murphy positions himself in the crowded GOP contest, the show of uniformed support is meant to underscore his qualifications and his appeal to Alabama’s Veteran community. Whether that backing translates into broader voter momentum remains to be seen.
