Veterans Group Endorses McKee in AL-01 GOP Race
Veterans for America First backs Green Beret McKee for Alabama’s 1st District, highlighting his military service and conservative agenda
The national Veterans organization Veterans for America First (VFAF) has formally endorsed Joshua McKee for Congress in Alabama’s 1st Congressional District, adding momentum to his Republican primary campaign.
VFAF, a grassroots group founded in 2015 as the original Veterans for Trump movement to promote America First policies. VFAF advocates border security, national defense and Veterans’ issues, and supports Veteran-aligned candidates.
Jared Craig Esq., National Vice President & Chief Legal Counsel of Veterans for America First, announced its backing of McKee in a statement on social media.
In its statement, VFAF said, “VFAF is proud to endorse Joshua McKee for Congress in Alabama’s 1st Congressional District in 2026. McKee is a proven America First leader whose service, resilience, and professional experience make him uniquely qualified to fight for Alabama families, veterans, and constitutional values. We are honored to stand with him.”
McKee is a decorated U.S. Army Green Beret and Bronze Star recipient with 25 years of service. He is a disabled Veteran who also worked in the private sector with companies such as General Motors and Hewlett-Packard before launching his congressional bid.
In announcing support, VFAF highlighted McKee’s military record, professional experience and conservative platform as reasons the organization believes he will represent district voters “with honor and integrity.” The group praised his commitment to key issues including Veterans care and national defense.
McKee’s campaign centers on reforms to the Department of Veterans Affairs, securing the southern border, reducing federal overreach, and defending Second Amendment rights and family values — positions mirrored in his campaign’s published issues list.
In a video on social media, McKee said he was ‘honored” to accept the VFAF endorsement.
The endorsement joins those from Green Beret PAC, Border Patriot PAC and GatorPAC, and adds to McKee’s profile in a crowded Republican primary field. Recent polling shows him gaining ground among likely voters against the campaigns of former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl and State Rep. Rhett Marques.
