Wadsworth Debuts “Bet Your Bass” Campaign Ad
GOP Lt. Gov. candidate blends humor and policy in new ad, pledging to fight corruption and boost Alabama’s economy
Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor Nicole Jones Wadsworth has released a new campaign advertisement, leaning on a familiar Southern pastime to deliver a broader message about economic growth and government reform.
Titled “Bet Your Bass,” the commercial uses bass fishing as a lighthearted backdrop while outlining Wadsworth’s policy priorities. The ad pairs humor with a direct appeal to working families, emphasizing results over rhetoric.
“In Alabama, we don’t make empty promises. We put our money, and our bass, on the line.”
Wadsworth uses the spot to underscore her private-sector experience and contrast it with the entrenched political habits in Montgomery.
“I’m in business, and I mean business, when I’ll fight corruption. I answer to Alabama, families who believe in faith, freedom, and hard work.”

Her campaign centers on a platform she calls “Build a Better Alabama,” which includes a focus on industry recruitment, workforce development, infrastructure improvements, rural healthcare access, and public safety.
“Alabamians are tired of career politicians,” said Jones Wadsworth. “My plan to Build a Better Alabama is focused on policy-oriented solutions in the areas of industry recruitment and retention, workforce development, statewide infrastructure improvements, rural healthcare, and public safety.”
Wadsworth has visited all 67 counties more than 25 times ahead of her run for office, an effort she points to as groundwork for understanding the state’s needs at a local level.
Closing the ad, she returns to its central theme with a promise rooted in both message and metaphor: “you can bet your bass, I’ll work for you.”
The spot blends cultural familiarity with policy detail, and connects with voters across Alabama while drawing a clear line between her candidacy and “politics-as-usual.”
