Wadsworth Qualifies for LG Race on First GOP Qualifying Day
Dr. Nicole Jones Wadsworth files for Lieutenant Governor on the first day of GOP qualifying, citing jobs, workforce, and growth
Business leader Dr.Nicole Jones Wadsworth qualified Monday as a Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor, filing on the first day of the party’s 2026 qualifying period at Alabama Republican Party headquarters in Hoover.
“This morning, surrounded by my husband, son, and daughter, I officially qualified as a Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor at the ALGOP headquarters in Hoover,” Wadsworth said in a Facebook post. “Thank you to everyone who has stood with me on this journey. Let’s get back to work. Together, we can Build a Better Alabama.”
In a statement, Wadsworth said her campaign is centered on what she calls a results-driven agenda to “Build a Better Alabama,” with a focus on industry growth, workforce training, infrastructure, rural health care, and public safety.
“Everything I am advocating for, I have done as a member of the private sector through my company, on a board or committee, or as an individual,” Wadsworth said.
She argued that Alabama’s economic future depends on policies that support job creation and stronger ties between schools and employers.
“Alabama’s future depends on smart policies that facilitate an environment for companies to create jobs as well as partnerships between industry and education to strengthen our workforce,” Wadsworth said. “I want to ensure every region of our state has the infrastructure and services needed to compete – nationally and globally.”
Wadsworth believes her background as a business owner gives her firsthand insight into economic growth and public safety needs.
“As a business owner and as someone who represents businesses every day, I know what it takes to attract and retain industry, invest in our people, and protect our communities,” she stated.
Before launching her campaign, Wadsworth said she traveled extensively across Alabama to hear directly from voters. She noted that she visited all 67 counties multiple times before asking for support.
“I put in the work by visiting all 67 counties over 25 times on my own dime before asking for a vote,” Wadsworth said. “As Lieutenant Governor I will work diligently and tirelessly for the people of Alabama. No career politics or political games necessary.”
Wadsworth’s professional background includes work as a site selector, commercial real estate developer, and economic development professional. Her campaign is framing that experience as an asset in keeping Alabama competitive and expanding access to jobs statewide.
“When Alabamians are working, we all benefit,” Wadsworth said. “I would be honored to earn your vote on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Together, we can Build a Better Alabama.”
