Washington Co. Sheriff Richard Stringer Backs Katherine Robertson in Attorney General Race
“I am convinced that Katherine is the right person to preserve the tight-knit bond that we have with her office”—Sheriff Richard Stringer
Republican Attorney General candidate Katherine Robertson has earned the endorsement of Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer. The longtime Sheriff, one of the most senior law enforcement leaders in Alabama, said his decision came down to trust and a long working relationship with Robertson.
“As Alabama’s most senior Sheriff, I have a unique perspective on the relationship between law enforcement and the Attorney General,” Sheriff Stringer said. “I am convinced that Katherine is the right person to preserve the tight-knit bond that we have with her office. She understands the challenges we face and has proven that she’s willing to stand with us when we need her. I am proud to support her for Attorney General.”
Robertson thanked the Sheriff for his support and pointed to the value of having the backing of someone with decades of experience.
“I’m truly honored and excited to have Sheriff Stringer’s support,” Robertson said. “When someone with his experience and integrity says he trusts me to have his back and the backs of every officer across Alabama, that means everything. I’ll never take that trust for granted and I look forward to continuing our work together in the years to come.”
Stringer is the latest addition to a growing number of law enforcement leaders supporting Robertson’s campaign. Her campaign team said she now has the backing of 16 Sheriffs Statewide.
Robertson will face former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey in the Republican primary on May 19, 2026.
