In this morning’s Jefferson County Republican Party Straw Poll, Wes Allen won in a landslide, receiving more than twice the number of votes of his closest competitor.

“I am proud to have won the Jefferson County Republican straw poll this morning,” Allen said. “The results reflect what I see around the state. Republican voters want to elect a Lt. Governor with a strong conservative record, not just rhetoric. I am the only candidate with an actual proven record of successfully passing Republican policies and of fighting liberals and winning every single time.”

With seven Republican candidates running for the office of Lt. Governor, the results were as follows:

Wes Allen 40%

John Wahl 16%

Bishop 14%

Wadsworth 14%

Pate 9%

Tankersley 5%

Childress 0%

The Jefferson County Republican Party holds the straw poll during election years and has often accurately predicted the outcome of Alabama’s Republican Primary election. The results were consistent with every statewide poll that has been released publicly. All polls show Allen with a commanding lead.

The Republican Primary will be held on May 19.
